A former deputy secretary who is the husband of a high-ranking Hong Kong official was charged with bribery for allegedly accepting HK$510,000 (US$65,000) from a Macau businesswoman who is a sister-in-law of gaming tycoon Stanley Ho Hung-sun.

Graft-busting student recruited by anti-corruption office. The 23-year-old university student who exposed nationwide embezzlement in the distribution of financial aid for the destitute has accepted the offer of a job at the Public Sector Anti-Corruption Commission’s Khon Khaen office.

Bribing institutionalised in service sectors. A survey by Transparency International Bangladesh found that around 76 per cent rural and 70 per cent urban people experienced law enforcers’ corruption while 68 per cent rural and 61 per cent urban people had to bribe Bangladesh Road Transport Authority officials to get legitimate services.
