Whistleblowing During COVID-19 / Malaysia to recover $107.3 mln after settling 1MDB case / The role of AI in fighting fraud

Whistleblowing During COVID-19 (webinar). “The role of whistleblowers is crucial in times of crisis to expose wrongdoing and misconducts in private and public institutions, health systems, working environments, commercial and delivery markets, and to denounce abuses of personal privacy, both on the digital sphere and the everyday life. The work of whistleblowers is central to denounce power violations and to protect the most vulnerable sectors of our society, but also whistleblowers are people at risk. They are subjects of repression and opposition before and after blowing the whistle, and often confined in isolation, imprisoned or persecuted while their civil rights are suspended. Disruptive Fridays #7 - Whistleblowing During COVID-19 focuses on the role of whistleblowers during COVID-19 and discusses the importance of exposing the truth during the pandemic. Join on May 15 2020 10 PM Bangkok time.“

Malaysia to recover $107.3 mln after settling 1MDB case against 'Wolf of Wall Street' producer. “Prosecutors dropped money-laundering charges against Riza Aziz - a Hollywood producer and the stepson of Malaysia’s former prime minister Najib Razak - on Thursday after a deal that officials said included the recovery of $107.3 million of overseas assets.”

The role of AI in fighting fraud for businesses during a global pandemic. “Fraudsters never sleep — especially not during a global pandemic and economic collapse. Rather, they’re taking advantage of the widespread panic and spikes in digital traffic by targeting companies under pressure. This has put banks, fintechs and any companies that process transactions at heightened risk. Already soaring prior to the coronavirus outbreak, card fraud, in particular, is forcing issuers and merchants to rethink their protective measures as the pandemic deepens.”
