Family quarrels, love affairs flood India anti-graft helpline

Calls of ‘personal’ grievances and family disputes has inundated the helpline launched by India's Telangana State to help citizens lodge corruption-related complaints against officials. Details of the complainants, which are supposed to be kept confidential, also became public because concerned officials provided all information and contact details to the media without verifying the call list of complaints. Over 11,000 calls were received between January 11 and January 15. Of these, only 499 were corruption-related. The rest were complaints like family disputes, love affairs, health insurance, ration card problems, non-receipt of scholarships, etc.
