Bangladesh politician snared / Thailand judicial independence / Sri Lanka sports corruption

Top Bangladesh politician snared in anti-corruption crackdown.  The high-profile head of the Dhaka youth wing of Hasina’s Awami League party, Ismail Hossain Samrat, was arrested with one of his associates, Bangladesh’s elite security force said, for using his political influence to run a network of illegal casinos and extortion rackets.

Cabinet gives approval for amended Prevention of Offences Relating to Sports Bill.  Sri Lanka’sCabinet gave approval for an amended Prevention of Offences Relating to Sports Bill, which deals comprehensively with match-fixing, corruption, illegal manipulation, and illegal betting in sports, to be presented to Parliament.
